L3 xpdr anon mode?
Have problems with your aircraft? Maybe just questions about how best to tune or adjust something? Regs or maintenance? Need to know the best way to do something?
Hey guys
Does anyone know about these L3 transponders?

Was looking to put this in, figured it would display traffic and all on my two GNS boxes, but I have heard mixed things about if it can do anonymous mode when set to 1200?
Anyone have any experience with this thing?
Thanks

Anonymous mode is only for UAT 978 MHz devices. Lynx is 1090 MHz. The UAT options with anon include GDL82, Tailbeacon, SkyBeacon, maybe others.
I have instructed for a flight school that got those put in every rental plane before 2020. They work great but look like shit in a nice garmin-based panel.

Thanks for the reply
GDL is only out though right?
Kinda liked the idea of having the real estate on my panel also be a dedicated traffic display vs just showing my squawk

Yes. If I were you (I’m not) and I already had garmin screens, I’d get a GTX345 and be done with it. Looks great, interfaces with garmin great, etc. No anonymous mode of course but just look into LADD or PIA for privacy.

I get what you’re saying and that would be the easy option, I’ve had every plane I’ve owned “blocked” at the FAA source level since it became a option
Issue with ADSB is youre still broadcasting a hex that leads back to you, so for me if I can’t find a box that has an anonymous hex out, im going to be sans ADSB for me, which would kinda suck with how and where I normally fly the plane

How so?
My understanding is some of the boxes can send the hex for N0 (unassigned) when set to 1200

Been discussed to death on here. It is not anonymous.

Link?
If you’re sending a N0 hex and 1200, how does that link back to you, outside of trying to snoop outside of transponder/ADSB data, which is a different topic onto itself
