Gene, couldn't get your link to work.

Here's another page on the history of Lake Union seaplanes that my buddy Don sent me. I expect it's the same video.

Same vid in both links.

When I lived in Seattle, I loved watching Kenmore Air's Beavers flying out of there.

I was always going to catch a flight out to the San Juan Islands, but somehow never got around to it. I think they charge around $100 each way per seat.

It's been mentioned here before, but the book "Success on the Step, Flying with Kenmore Air" is a nice read about the history of this area and one of its key operators.

It's over a hundred bucks to go from Pt Townsend to Seattle in a 172 these days, I'm sure a Beaver from Seattle to the islands is gonna be probably double that.

Don't bet on it! Here's their current internet specials, all at $100 or less for one way. =D>

Their regular rates for Seattle to the San Juans are now $115.

Re: Lake Union Seaplanes

I learned to fly from Lana Kurtzer on Lake Union, when he was in his '70's and had amassed over 30 some thousand hours on floats. Learning to fly from him was a real honor; he was an interesting character for sure. Walking into that very same hanger shown in the old photo's was like entering a Frank Capra movie, or an original aviation museum. You were surrounded by history. And as he said " out in the bush, it's still the same; all you can hear is yourself". On one of the cabinets in his office where literally hundreds of his old logbooks stacked up........what a guy!
