Something else to watch for-that can be hard to spot from the air with direct overhead sun/lighting.....
Watch out for where the road is 'cut' into the terrain. One side or both. The types of roads we can land on are typically very narrow, and a 'cut' can do the opposite of 'high centered' to even a high wing plane.... [-X #-o

Just a thought....

No, not experience-but CLOSE.
Especially relevant where there is no 'go-around'-when you get low enough the cut is suddenly an obvious issue (no go around due to known wires, trees, corner, terrain, etc).

Humor may not make the world go around, but it certainly cheers up the process... :)
With clothing, the opposite of NOMEX is polypro (polypropylene cloth and fleece).

Just down from the Alvord Desert. Cool little place with a motel and best milkshakes in the world.

Looks like a great place, BUT, as per Oregon law do they have to run the gas pump or can you do it yourself? Anyone know the origin, and the why and wherefor all Oregon gas stations employ people to pump your gas? Job creation I guess? I just find it funny to think I could land and taxi up there, but then have to stand aside while some kid runs the gas pump! Cool place still, like Picabo, Idaho.

Something I was told by a Cenex station operator here in South Dakota. It was illegal for me to fuel the plane from the pumps. I would have to fill the can first and then put it in. On the wall he had pictures of the different crop dusters that had pulled up for fuel over the years. The Deputy Sheriff pulled up as I was finishing and we visited and then said not to take off on main street because someone could step out of the bar in front and there were also power lines. I taxied to the end of main, made the corner and took off on the county road leading out of town.

In Fields they figure if you're grown up enough to fly or drive there, you're grown up enough to pump your own gas. Though I'm sure that eventually they'll go to prison for allowing that to happen.
