Re: Leading Edge Tape

Mylar tape, its formable and very resistant to weather and rocks/dirt. Once its on there it will stay, clean the paint/surface first with iso or some other cleaner. It comes off in one piece, if the paint under it has loose/flaking pieces, they will definitely come off on the tape, but well adhered paint shouldn't pull up. Use it on antenna's and light lenses on biz jets.

Re: Leading Edge Tape

Which lading edge-- prop, wing, or horizontal?
I've seen some sort of tape used on all of them.

3M 8672 is 8mil

8671 is 14mil

The correct way to apply it is pretty involved... https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/pdf/PPTApp%20Instrdec%202008.pdf

There used to be kits for props made from one of the 3M tapes. I remember the trick to getting them to stay on was to follow the instructions (duh) and wait the 48-72 hours (I forget what it was) before running the engine to let the adhesive cure.

Re: Leading Edge Tape

That stuff posted last is overkill for jets. What your looking for is commonly used on race cars etc. use it as you are looking to do in my Husky. Use spray bottle with a little dish soap to wet surface to make installation easy. Sold at Jegs auto online.
