For my Conservative friends: Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

For my Liberal friends: If I have any

“Please accept, with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all.

I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the generally accepted calendar year 2014, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make the USA great. Not to imply that the USA is necessarily greater than any other country in the Western Hemisphere.

And without regard to the race, creed, colour, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wishes. By accepting these greetings you are accepting these terms. This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal. It is freely transferable with no alteration to the original greeting. It implies no promise by the wisher to actually implement any of the wishes for herself or himself or others, and is void where prohibited by law and is revocable at the sole discretion of the wisher. This wish is warranted to perform as expected within the usual application of good tidings for a period of one year or until the issuance of a subsequent holiday greeting, whichever comes first, and warranty is limited to replacement of this wish or issuance of a new wish at the sole discretion of the wisher.”

I think you may have more Liberal friends than you know. Their just in the closet.
Pic. A nice loving American family greeting Dad in the morning when they discover no presents under the tree.
Reminds me of a not so happy event that happened today.
The inventor of the rifle on the left just passed away. Mikhail Kalashnikov's AK-47 is legendary. RIP

A merry X-mas to all.

Oregon Maule

Just to let you know, I am copying your holiday greeting to several people and dropping out the adjective liberal, in other words, it begins "for my friends if I have any". Postscript will read "unabashedly copied from a person going by the nom de plume 'Oregon Maule'".

Thanks,
Dick

Re: Let me be the first to say…..

Merry Christmas, To One and All!!

In God We Trust

A Different Christmas Poem

The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light,
I gazed round the room and I cherished the sight.
My wife was asleep, her head on my chest,
My daughter beside me, angelic in rest.
Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white,
Transforming the yard to a winter delight.

The sparkling lights in the tree I believe,
Completed the magic that was Christmas Eve.
My eyelids were heavy, my breathing was deep,
Secure and surrounded by love I would sleep.
In perfect contentment, or so it would seem,
So slumbered I, perhaps I started to dream.
The sound wasn't loud, and it wasn't too near,
But I opened my eyes when it tickled my ear.

Perhaps just a cough, I didn't quite know,
Then the sure sound of footsteps outside in the snow.
My soul gave a tremble, I struggled to hear,
And I crept to the door just to see who was near.
Standing out in the cold and the dark of the night,
A lone figure stood, his face weary and tight.
A soldier, I puzzled, some twenty years old,
Perhaps a Trooper, huddled here in the cold.
Alone in the dark, he looked up and smiled,
Standing watch over me, and my wife and my child.

"What are you doing?" I asked without fear,
"Come in this moment. It's freezing out here!
Put down your pack, brush the snow from your sleeve,
You should be at home on a cold Christmas Eve!"
For barely a moment I saw his eyes shift,
Away from the cold and the snow blown in drifts.

To the window that danced with a warm fire's light
Then he sighed and he said, "It's really all right,
I'm out here by choice. I'm here every night."
"It's my duty to stand at the front of the line,
That separates you from the darkest of times.
No one had to ask or beg or implore me,
I'm proud to stand here like my fathers before me.
My Gramps died in Europe on a day in December,"
Then he said,

"That's a Christmas 'Gram always remembers."
I've not seen my own son in more than a while,
But my wife sends me pictures. He's sure got her smile.
Then he bent and he carefully pulled from his bag,
The red, white, and Blue American Flag.
I can live through the cold and the being alone,
Away from my family, my house and my home.
I can stand at my post through the rain and the sleet,
I can sleep in a foxhole with little to eat.
I can carry the weight of killing another,
Or lay down my life with my sister and brother.
Who stand at the front against any and all,
To ensure for all time that this flag will not fall."

"So go back inside," he said, "harbor no fright,
Your family is waiting and I'll be all right."
"But isn't there something I can do, at the least,
"Give you money," I asked, "or prepare you a feast?
It seems all too little for all that you've done,
For being away from your wife and your son."
Then his eye welled a tear that held no regret,
"Just tell us you love us, and never forget.

To fight for our rights back at home while we're gone,
To stand your own watch, no matter how long.
For when we come home, either standing or dead,
To know you remember we fought and we bled.
Is payment enough, and with that we will trust,
That we mattered to you as you mattered to us."

Re: Let me be the first to say…..

After hitting several major retailers the other day, and getting the now standard Happy Holidays greeting or sendoff, my last stop was at a Franciscans Sisters (Nuns....) bakery. They make these killer fruitcakes every year as a fundraiser and sell them cheap. When I was leaving the nun I was dealing with wished me a Merry Christmas and I turned around and asked her "don't you mean Happy Holidays?" She immediately got the joke and we both laughed, she was kind of cute and we had been flirting a little beforehand, at least I was, but I don't think I'll get anywhere #-o

It's looking like tomorrow AM will be my first chance to ski fly rather then wheel/ski fly, we got some decent snow finally. Flying on Christmas morning.....doesn't get any better, we're not eating until 2 so perfect. I can only make nice for so long, not all day for sure  Merry Christmas AND Happy Holidays.

Re: Let me be the first to say…..

What nobody here is addressing is that... everyone is liberal compared to Rob

My sincere Christmas gift to Rob is simply to remind him that if any PC folks are offended by his use of "Merry Christmas", he has every right to shove political correctness up their ass and cheerfully remind them that their expression of displeasure or question over that phrase is in itself EXTREMELY politically IN-correct, and that it demonstrates an illegal, un-American, and highly offensive lack of tolerance on THEIR part for Rob's cultural traditions and beliefs, and that such intolerant, unenlightened, and potentially racist behavior could subject them to legal action, and that if their employer were to find out that one of their employees was acting in such an insensitive and heinous manner their entire company could be sued for creating a politically incorrect and hate-mongering environment where this kind of hatred and intolerance could flourish.... and shouldn't they just give Rob the same f***ing respect and tolerance for his culture as they would expect from him for theirs???

(I wanted to give Rob a gift that he would get some use out of)
