Lompoc cub fly-in

Don't know if I will be around or not but here is the 2012 facebook page for anybody who is going to be in the area.

Re: Lompoc cub fly-in

I was just there a couple of months ago in the 180 and would love to go back down for this in the PA-16 but I can't afford the three days ( ) of fuel it would take to get that thing down there and then when I'm there it's still a Clipper and not a Cub so.....

I did do a little more flying around while I was down this last time and there really is some beautiful scenery in that area and some really cool looking hilltops to explore (although I didn't). Went out over the coastline a little. Fun place to visit. I heard there's a movement to try and shut down Oceano. Any truth to that?

Hope the fly-in goes well again this year.

....You got me reminiscing and searching for some pics.

Here I am loading the plane while my wife admires, my kids play and my dad tries to figure out how to help!

The hangar in the background with the famous "Lompoc" on it belongs to a guy named Larry who has his shop set up there. He has a maticulously restored Luscombe that he's flown for years that may come up for sale pretty soon to make room for another project he's working on. He's always taken good care of me when I visit even though he's not running an FBO, just his own private business.

Last year there was a contractor who wanted to shut down Oceano but the community gave him a big NO. That was the last I heard.
