Well, as long as we are bumping this thread: just this weekend while parked at Hood River and already thinking ahead as to how to get some mo-gas (I did have the Montague and the bike trailer, but wasn't sure how far the nearest station was, turns out not too far at all but down a pretty busy and narrow two lane highway with not much of a shoulder). So when Steve Henry walked over with a person he'd just given a ride too, I kind of steered the conversation around to how and when I were going to re-fuel, and bingo, the lady who just went flying piped up with "my husband and I have our car right over there, it'll just take a second to unload our stuff"!

As they were doing so, I pointed out to Steve, even though I figured he knew it, that my casual bringing up of the re-fueling thing in front of someone that just MAY have had a ride handy was NOT accidental, but the result of careful "planning" and long experience. 10 minutes later I was back with 25 gallons, 5 of them for Steve, and we were both good to go.

In my case, my 20 gallons (at $2.95 per gallon I think it was, E-10 but that works fine) was in 2 bushbags, 2 small jerry jugs, and my 6 gallon ferry tank. I then did what I do almost exclusively these days, I disconnected the ferry tank quick disco, snapped in my finger strainered dipstick, shoved in the first bush bag and hit the permanently mounted on the rear floorboard transfer pump. While the small but mighty EarthX did the hard work, I bs'd with passerby. For me anyway this method also has the advantage of being idiot proof, the worst that can happen when overfilling is it starts running out my vents, but there are underwing mounted so no problemo. I love my bushbags but I'll be damned if I can get the spouts to be drip free, and I've tried O-rings...., now I don't care as I never use them to pour, just carry fuel.
