Looking for 8 bolt O300 crank

Have a bad crank in a sedan. I would love to find a good crankshaft or whole motor for the right price. Must be an 8 bolt with dampers. Thanks!!

Good luck finding an 8-bolt C-145 / O-300A crank, I hear they're really hard to find. You'd have to get a new prop, but I believe you can use a 6 bolt crank from an O-300D, also heard that the crank from an IO-360 Continental will work. Not sure just what the paperwork exercise is to use either of those however- whether it's just a logbook entry, model designation change, or ?

There is a company out there that can mod an io-360 crank. I just talked to an engine shop today about it for a customer of mine. If you want I can get info, just let me know.

Looking for 8 bolt O300 crank

We put an IO-360 crank in a 0-300 that's original crank got red tagged... Was a few years ago so do not remember the paperwork end of it but it did go in pretty smoothly... Biggest problem we had with it was the nose plug leaked oil until we sealed it with some special lock tight product...

Re: Looking for 8 bolt O300 crank

Yeah they are hard to come by for sure! We found a yellow tagged overhauled crank for $5600. The IO-360 crank is about $7500. The owner does not want to buy another prop for a six bolt crank or get his mechanic to field approve a O-300 B or C into the Sedan. Im kinda of the opinion that a O-300 B or C into a sedan would be a minor alteration BUT i could go either way.
We have a line on two of them locally and will post on how it turns out. :D
FYI Dee at Copper River Airmotive has three O-300 all with six bolt and all prop strike that he is selling for pretty cheap. Complete motors.

Re: Looking for 8 bolt O300 crank

Hello, I have a complete O-300A in a 1958 C-172 that I would consider selling complete. Please feel free to give me a call at 308-390-5974 to discuss further.

Thanks,
Kent
