Looking for ideas

I have the wife and youngster talked into a flying adventure. I barely dodged the TSA adventure my wife was considering. So I'm looking for some ideas please.

1 week or so to do it towards the end of Feb.
A 180, a 21/2 year old, my wife and I.
Need some BTU's and to get out of this mountain white stuff, thinking AZ? Tuscon? Phoenix? Smaller towns around there?
Not going to make them camp. (this time)
Would like to maybe base out of somwhere and do day trips for hiking and outdoor stuff.

Thanks for any help.

We were excited to heli in Silverton — until we saw the bird. Looking like something your stoner uncle built in the garage out of four Meccano sets, a fish tank, and an AMC Pacer, this helicopter seats a pilot plus two only, making it a tricky vehicle, logistics-wise, when your group has 8 people in it. What "Mountain Valley do you live in?" Southern California is nice usually this time of year!

End of Feb, early March can be pretty nice weather for Sedona (no guarantees, can also be cold). If you are thinking Phoenix anyway, you might consider there as well. Beautiful spot, nice places to stay close to the airport and even some backcountry strips that you can fly to (see Arizona Pilot's Association Website).

If nothing else, it is worth flying over on your way to Phoenix.

Have fun!!

She'll love the Sunday brunch at Furnace Creek Inn at Death Valley. Nice place to stay and warm enough to wear shorts for the day's round of golf.

Wendover has real cheap rooms during the week. Not much of a vacation destination but a good place for overnight. They have shuttles to the hotels too.

I'm thinking Rob's Cliffdweller Lodge experience is one that I plan to make soon, maybe Marble Canyon or both. It has to be warmer there methinks.

Re: Looking for ideas

Try Wickenburg Arizona - good airport, nice little historical town for your wife, good hiking and only 45 minutes to Phoenix.
