Looking for place to have fuselage recovered

Our glider club is going to need the fuselage on our towplane, a Bellanca Scout, recovered sometime in the next two or three years. Can somebody recommend some shops in the California, Western Nevada, Oregon area that does fabric recovering work?

Thanks,
Larry

Re: Looking for place to have fuselage recovered

Wood Wing Specialty in Shafter, CA
Rowena's Aircraft Fabric, Santa Paula, CA
Ray's Aviation, Santa Paula, CA
Mountain Valley Airport / Skylark North, Tehachapi, CA

All of these sources are glider/towplane/antique airplane friendly.

Is that Walt Rogers' old DG-300? If so, one of the owners after Walt was a friend of mine (Marc Silverman), and I flew that ship once.

I don't know if you can do better than Rowena at Santa Paula. I bought a Schweizer SGU 2-22E she and her husband Pete restored, and it's gorgeous. She also done some fabric work on my Cub.

I'll add a third recommendation for Rowena. She and Pete just finished restoring an ex tow plane scout if you want to check thier work.

I'd also add Dan Torrey of M.A.R.S. (also at Santa Paula). He is the #1 Bellanca guy on the west coast.
I'm pretty sure I saw a citabria getting a fuse recover in his shop this week if you want to see his work too.

Re: Looking for place to have fuselage recovered

I was going to mention Brian at Steve's Aircraft but he already posted. Few years back I was at their hangar waiting for some parts to come in. Had the pleasure of observing Brian while he was covering the empennage off a cub. Very good work by someone who takes pride it what he does.

Later that night I had the opportunity to watch his dad (Steve) as he finished up assembling the engine for the cub. These guys are great at what they do.

You're never too old to learn something stupid.

Thanks for the recommendations! I'll start contacting folks.

My DG-300 used to belong to Erik Rupp. I fly it out of Byron, CA Oct-May and Truckee and Air Sailing in the summer. Entering my fourth season with it. Wondeful plane.
