I already have my ATP, Commercial single and CFII. I would like to get tailwheel and float training and use my Post 9/11 GI Bill for this. From talking with a few colleges that have aviation programs it seems as though I need to find a part 141 school that is set up for the Post 9/11 GI Bill directly (not via a local college or university). The reason is because when going through a college you have to be in a degree seeking program to use the Post 9/11 GI Bill. Since I already have ratings I can't take flight lessons for credits at the college since they are all set up for private, instrument, and commercial flight courses.

I know that Higher Power in Dallas is set up direct with the VA and guys get their 737 type rating using their Post 9/11 GI Bill, but does anyone know of a place that meets this criteria for tailwheel and float?

How about a helicopter rating......can use up that GI bill pretty fast

Tailwheel and float should take about 10 to 15 hours....then some helicopter, too. Sounds like fun.

If you have the re$ources one way or another,
helicopter is as much fun as you can have with your clothes on....
I highly recommend it.

I would totally do helicopter as well, but that would be more of a regular thing as opposed to traveling somewhere for a few days to a week for tailwheel and float. There actually are two part 141 helo places within an hour, but one only does the Post 9/11 GI Bill with a local community college and the other doesn't return phone calls, emails, never has their VA rep present when I drop in. I have even done a demo flight to show I'm interested, but I guess they don't want the $45,000 over the next three years that the GI Bill will pay.

So now I'm looking at places I can travel to for a mini-vacation/flying lesson trip. I see a bunch of places for backcountry, tailwheel, and floatplane, but can't seem to find one that is part 141, takes the GI Bill, but isn't associated with a college.

Maybe enroll in that Community College, take the helicopter courses, then drop out once you have the Comm./Rotorcraft cert.

I have looked into that, but unfortunately the local community college requires in class courses as well. If they were online I could pull it off, but I can't make a MWF class for an hour or so. I'm active duty Navy.
