Lost a couple friends last Saturday
Debrief, share, and hopefully learn from the mistakes of others.
I saw those pictures earlier on the SWP board. So sad for both aircraft...
I'll say prayers for the families.

Really a bad day in the Cascades.
My first guess is there was weather over the hills, but no knowledge of that.
That area is a nasty piece of rock. Between the terrain and the ocean air being pushed up over the mountains it can make for some nasty surprises.
My heart goes out to all the families.
Fly safely folks!

I was up at Concrete Saturday afternoon and it was scuddy around there and worse east & north of there. Concrete is located on the North Cascades Scenic Hwy, maybe 50 miles west of where the Bonanza crashed and about 15 south of where the PA22 crashed. Not sure, and hate to speculate, but I'm guessing the wx was a factor in both crashes.
Whenever I hear about a plane crash in the pacific northwest, I always pray that it's not anyone I know. Aviation really is a very small world-- even if we don't know the people involved, we often know someone who does. Fishdoc, I'm sorry to hear that it was friends of yours.

So sorry to hear.
We pilots are a small community, and back country pilots an even smaller subsection.
I have a lot of respect for the Cascades, some tough weather and terrain. Beautiful though, just dangerous. The two often (usually) go together.
Based on the eyewitness account of the survivor from the B35 crash, 20 miles away and only hours apart, there was obscuration.
