Louisiana

Are there any members down in Louisiana? We went halves on a house in New Orleans with some friends, so will be down that way once in awhile. It would be fun finding cool places between Ohio and N.O.

I hear they have drive-through daiquiri stands.

...that, they do.

Boudan and Cracklin's anyone.

I went out and did that once with Lyle Panepinto at Southern Seaplane. It was fun flying they do in the gulf. Many challenging and unique aspects for float flying.

If you're not scarin' yourself, you're not scarin' the crowd!

This plane isn't Lyle's but his daughter put it in the water for us. Definitely different than the lakes of Minnesota and Florida. Had some good food out at a rig also. Spent a little over an hour with Charlie Hammonds over at Houma in his amphib 185.

Wow, John, sounds like a good deal!

It looks like you will be flying right over Moontown, AL, (3M5) just to the east of Huntsville. It was one of my favorite grass strips on my tour last year. They sell fuel there, and the manager/mechanic gave me a ride to the closest motel both nights I was there, and also gave me a ride to food. He dropped everything to change my oil for me. The people there made me feel very much like one of the regulars. It's a fun and friendly little airport. And the grass runway was in great shape.

Diana, I'll look that place up. My brother just got stationed at Huntsville. I guess he's trading in his F15 for missiles? thanks, John
