Lowrance 2K
Avionics, airplane covers, tires, handheld radios, GPS receivers, wireless Wx uplink...any product related to backcountry aircraft and flying.
Jr,
I think the Lowrance units are sweet. I imagine them to be about the size of a piece of 8.5" x 11" paper folded in half, is that right?
Do you use the cigarette lighter adapter in the 170? Isn't it funny how we're stuck with the cigarette lighter as the accepted convention for 12V power delivery?
I got to know the Garmin GNS 430 intimately this weekend. Have mostly used just the D-> function until now but given the longer XC, I had plenty of time to fiddle. It has some neat stuff built in like flight timers, vertical nav, artcc and airport freqs lookup, etc. It will autofill your standby comm freq with a selected one from the database of nearest freqs. Nice in the junker, but if I had my way I think I would just go 296 or 2000C.

I bought a Lowrance 2K at the last Sun & Fun and really like it. They gave me a $225 trade in on my old Lowrance 100 and I got the dealer down to $710. With tax I paid $485. Most bang for the buck in 30 years of flying.
I used it to fly from Fl. to back here in the Northeast. It dosen't take long to figure it out, very user friendly, and easy to read and operate in the airplane, even in rough weather. I highly recomend it.
