Lycoming O-290-D2 Parts
Lycoming, Continental, Hartzell, McCauley, or any broad spectrum drive system component used on multiple type.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Good afternoon. I have the infamous O-290-D2 that is in need of a some new/reconditioned pistons (P/N 69841 - 7.5:1 ratio). Does anyone have information on a shop that may carry such a thing. I wouldn't be opposed to pistons that may be mothballed in some old timers shed either (as long as they are usable of course). It has been a bear trying to find parts up to this point, and I was hoping to tap into the group knowledge base to find the final parts.
Thank you for your time,
Ben

Hi
Ken Vike in Kamloops, BC rebuilt my 0290D2 and had pistons and rings. This was in 2006 so has been awhile.
You can email me abellandattelus.net if you need or would like his contact info.
I also fly a J5 on 29" bush wheels.

Being certified, I would imagine it is going to be harder for you to find parts. Rings are still available from ECI, but unsure on the lower comp pistons. Mine is exper. so it makes finding parts a bit easier. good luck

Thanks for the info gentlemen. I just brought my pistons into the shop for inspection today. Hope they pass, if not I will be looking for alternative measures.
