Mandatory Service Bulletin - High Time Airframes

This has been rumored for the last decade, but it looks like the FAA is about to make a final ruling on the high time airframe MSB for several GA airplanes... if past is prologue, probably the AD to follow.

The question about how much TTAF is too much is always a debate, but we're going to get that answered for us... values will undoubtably plummet!

The MSB specifies the new schedule with increasingly invasive inspections due at: 2501, 3501, 5501, and 7501 hrs, with a finite airframe life to expire at 10,001 hrs.

The 2500, 3500 and 5500 intervals I suppose make sense, but airframe disassembly at 7500hrs??? And to have to scrap an airplane after 10,000?!?!?!?

There are a bunch of pro-aviation Senators that have joined AOPA screaming overreach, but who knows where this will go.

Popcorn please... We'll see how this fight turns out.

Where can I find more information on the details of this?

Great news for Bushliner! They have a large inventory of precisely drilled out panels and bulkheads ready to replace our aging skin and bones.

I sure hope so, but given some of the stuff I’ve found out the feds have done lately, it seems way too plausible for me to be able to enjoy the humor in it.
