Re: Marble, CO Camping 28-30 May 2010

I'd defiantly like to come for a day or so. I haven't done the waiver though, would it be possible to send it to me or post it here to send in?
Thanks Blu

Re: Marble, CO Camping 28-30 May 2010

Bad news on my end. I have three more semi loads of bees to ship from Texas and one of them is showing up Sat night. I will need to unload him Sunday am early. Tough time of the year for me to schedule anything. I am hoping to maybe show up for the day Saturday.

Bummer to hear Tom, but we understand that bees are your business.

For anyone wanting to attend, here is the link for the waiver http://coloradopilots.org/marble_liability_release.htm. Print it, sign it, scan it and PM me for Diane Gallegos' email. She would like to have them in hand prior to you landing. Blu and 88H, check your PM's for her email address.

Oh, almost forgot. Once you have done a waiver with the Gallegos' you do not need to renew it. If you did one with the previous owner you need to reaccomplish it. Also, disregard the $15 registration fee, that is only for the annual CPA fly-in to cover costs of port-o-johns, trash services, etc.

Re: Marble, CO Camping 28-30 May 2010

Gary / Bill:

Have sent the waiver to Diane.

The trip is looking more iffy for me, but I wanted to have it just in case. My son (who just graduated from HS this week), blew the engine in his truck. So it is beginning to look like I will be pulling an engine this weekend (otherwise Dad's car will be burning doughnuts and making corners on two wheels).

If I don't make it, you two characters try not to sully the flying community's reputation too much.

Regards, Larry

P.S. Concerning the fishing, as I recall there is a guide service that works out of Marble. Maybe they could organize something to the high lakes. I will do a search and see if I can find their name.

Re: Marble, CO Camping 28-30 May 2010

Larry, sorry to hear you may not make it. Hopefully I will get my plane back up and the weather will cooperate or I may not make it. Do you plan on making the CPA fly-in in Sept? If you manage to work something out for guided fly fishing I may be interested in getting in on it.

Re: Marble, CO Camping 28-30 May 2010

Bill:

I will definitely plan on Sept. and I will just plan on getting something going for fishing! My sister lives in Glenwood, so it shouldn't be hard to get something organized.

Also, I heard from Diane and it turns out those poor people are NOT pilots. If one of you guys this weekend could go over and offer to haul them around the valley, it would probably be a nice gesture. Not sure if they would be interested, but I'm sure they are expending a lot of effort for an activity they don't engage in, and it would be a nice way to say thanks! We need to reward them any way we can!!

I will let you guys know about this weekend by tomorrow.

Regards, Larry

I talked to Bill, he's out with plane issues.

I'm looking at the forecast, looks like winds are still going to be high tomorrow. I'll check later tonight and make the call.

Re: Marble, CO Camping 28-30 May 2010

Bummer for me! I have been having problems with my plane starting great sometimes and not so much other times. Figured my old battery was on its last leg so decided to swap it with a new lightweight firewall mounted one so I can put in extended baggage. Found a problem with my battery solenoid and bought a new one. Same starting issues so upgraded to a new lightweight sky-tec starter. Same darn issues! Borrowed a known good sky-tec starter from a friend's 182 and still didn't work. Only thing left is the starter adapter. Looks like I will be down for another week or so.

Winds are looking crazy for Marble tomorrow and possibly Sat. Please be careful for those who do decide to go.

Hey Bill

Sorry to hear you rproblem is persisting. Those starter adapters are Xpensive. Just put one on my dad's plae. $2000. I don't know much about them, But wonder if that could cause your problem. If it is,might be something you can take apart and fix.???? Might keep checking, makeing sure your new parts are good. A jumper to the starter might give you a little insight. I'm sure you got lotsa good help/ideas.

Good luck

My dad's was leaking. Maybe from haveing the alternator belt too tight for too long.?????

If you want to go up, pull back on the controls. If you want to go down, pull back farther.

Checked the forecast and I'm out.

It's to bad, we'll have to try to set something up later or just meet at the CPA fly-in.

Dang.

Left Rifle a couple hours ago after a couple days of fishing the frying pan. It was already blowing 25 +. Stopped at hals crossing for gas & snacks where it is 35+ kts.... not conducive to fun in the mts.... I expect marble will be similar tomorrow.... play safe out there

Ya the wind is really howling today. Just checked the forecast though and it dosnt look to bad tommorow. It's only a 30 min hop for me so I guess I'll see what it's like in the morning. Will I be the only one there if I go?

Re: Marble, CO Camping 28-30 May 2010

I will not be making Marble, Johnson Creek, Oshkosh or anywhere anytime soon. My engine is now offically a boat anchor. My starter adapter has a seized bearing and took out part of the engine while attempting to remove. The engine needs to be removed from airframe and opened to repair. High timed O-470A that I'm refusing to throw anymore money at. Looking for a good mid timed O-470R to do a conversion.

I don't have a broken hip like Tadpole but I do have a broken engine. It may be time to resort to offering up money for gas for rides.

Damn, buddy! Sorry to hear that. I have another BCP buddy to whom the exact same thing recently happened, or similar at least...starter gear pieces run through the accessory case. He swears by the B&C adapter now.

Are you saying that removal of the bearing broke the case?
