Maule M4 Where's the Step ???
Information and discussion about seaplanes, float planes, and water operations.
If anyone out there has the measurments for a Maule M4 220 on Edo 2440's I would appreciate some help. I would like to know
1) Where the step is in relation to the datum(leading edge)
2) Angle between the floats and the bottom of wing
Also is there anyone willing to share their empty weight and CG location for a M4 220 on either floats or wheels ?
Thanks a lot guys!

cooker,
There are two riggings for this combination. The early installations had the angle of incidence between the wing and the floats very "open", ie: the angle of incidence of the airplane very high while the floats were level.
Later, there was an amendment to the rigging to make the airplane sit more level on the floats. You definitely want to go with the later rigging. EDO should have that data, give Kenmore Air a call.

yea .... i tried the kenmore route .....
they definitely have the the drawing that shows exactly what i am looking for however the president of the company himself told me "we have spent millions of dollars purchasing the design and engineering drawings from edo and we will not be giving out any information regarding their design or placement on the aircraft"
i am not sure what he has to loose at this point. I find it hard to believe that they would be worried about loosing any proprietary secrets at this point. I was under the opinion all Kenmore really does under the edo name is sell parts..... very dissapointed in their unwillingness to provide any support....
correct me if i am wrong but didn't the government sink a bunch of cash into edo's "research"
Perhaps it was a bad day at Kenmore, i beat the bushes as hard as i could and with as many pointed questions as i could think of. The first guy i talked to was looking at the drawing and let out a few of these "secrets" but nothing real concrete
rant over .....
