I have an 85' MX7-235 Maule - I may be removing rudder to both clean up in general and also install a new whelen tail pos/strobe unit. The question is this- what is the fabric attach process? I know that it is a glue on affair ie stits type of system, but how is fabric attached to each rib of rudder. I will be calling Maule monday but was curious if any of you had experience with this. The other option is to make holes and patch but if I have to make 4 or 5 holes it would be as well to recover. It is original fab and paint and structure would benefit from cleanup. I am trying to put off fuse recover as long as possible and have had very good luck so far- the old paint literally peeled off with ginger coaxing from putty knife. I have it back to blue treated ceconite and have put on one coat silver, 2 more to follow then a new coat of Utech 3.5 in Dune white. The fabric tested fine and the structure beneath is fine as well.
I don't mind doing rudder recover as it is a finite part and not nearly as invoved as fuselage.
