Maule seats

Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?

Maule seats

We have a Maule M5, love the plane it took a bit of getting used to after a Bonanza but on top of it now.

Does anyone know of any replacement seats, I am looking for more comfort ideally with adjustable backs. (I think this is going to be difficult). Even something I could adapt would do.

Re: Maule seats

Ashy

Looked at a rebuilt Maule M5 in northern Calif. some ten years ago.
Two problems for me:
1: The angled side panels got in the way I was 6'-2" at the time.
2 The seat was in a fixed position. Close. The owner, and A&P tried to convince me he could re-weld it to fit. I was not going to put any money into a plane that needed frame welding AFTER a new fab covering.

Must be a Maule FORUM round here somewhere that will give me a good mauling for my coments. I could repeat a comment my favorite IA said about the best home built, or something like that, Made In America. =D> But I won't :^o

Think I have see a Maule.com fella hanging around here ever so often.

Re: Maule seats

I have not heard of anything STC or PMA. I agree some nice reclining high backs would be sweet. Legally my best recomendation is Oregon Aero memory foam upgrade.

Re: Maule seats

If you had Maule tracks put on a seat like this you can probably get a field approval because it is an airplane seat. This pic is from Oregon Aero. Just guessing.Image

Re: Maule seats

Try look on the Maule Pilots website: http://maulepilots.org/

The front seats should be adjustable, sliding fore & aft. The backs however are fixed. I am 6'-2" and can fit just fine in standard seats.

In my M4, I was able to tweak an extra click of rearward seat travel by replacing the welded track on bottom of seat with a slightly longer track. The track is a small gauge steel channel that I ordered by length from the factory. The extra distance from the panel is handy when there is a passenger in the right seat.

Re: Maule seats

Thanks for the feedback, Oregon Aero seem to be a good starting point. I am going to Oshkosh in July, i will have a chat with them.
Thanks
