Re: McKenzie River Bridge recon completed (Good work RAF!)

McKenzie is definitely a one of kind airstrip. It has several personalities depending on the weather and time of year etc..

Today was 100% perfect to fly there from the Coast. ...Please climb aboard and let’s ride...

Ha! We just mowed McKenzie Bridge on Tuesday. If I had known you planned a visit I would have trimmed up a bit around the helipad [emoji16].

Glad you enjoyed your visit - it is a special airfield. The RAF will continue working with ODA and USFS to improve the field and the facilities. Your support of our mission is always appreciated.

Have you made it out to USFS Rager?

The helipad was very clean and I didn’t notice any roughness around the edges!!! Sorry I missed you folks!

The environment was pristine. The grass is very green and almost surreal. Very well kept airfield, thank you.

I’m not familiar with USFS Rager. Could you forward the location?

Thank you again for all the tireless effort and appreciation of this classic Oregon airfield.

In collaboration with the USFS, the RAF recently completed a major bit of work at Rager. Volunteers cleared brush to restore the full 30 feet width by 2,800 feet length, repaired damage to the runway, installed a new windsock and picnic table, and built a fire ring.

Check out https://airfield.guide and search the Oregon tab. You may find some additional interesting destinations in the site ;-)

Hello heli friends from Nehalem Bay! Nice to see a post from you! My friends you met at the coast camped with me at McKenzie on the night of May 23. Great weekend trip. Thank you to the RAF for mowing. The airfield looked great.

Hope to see you and your wife on another camp trip! Terri (TT)

Hi Terri!!

I’m very glad to read your post. I have been meaning to hopefully see all of you again out flying. Your knowledge of Oregon and the surrounding areas is very useful to an outsider like myself! Would love to fly to Reds or Minam!

NOTAM: 10-JUNE Nehalem Bay State opens.

Aloha,
Ted and for Mary Lou
