That is sad!

In the same vein, some say that China is building 5 airports for their general aviation for every 1 closed in the US.

That's sad to hear! I never made it out there. Regretfully every year I never made time to go to the fly-in.

Re: McKinnon Airpark - Sandy, OR - OG29

Seems a shame. I was also quite disappointed to find out a couple of years ago that the Evergreen Museum in not-so-far-away McMinnville has never done anything to document or preserve the legacy of McKinnon Enterprises Inc. or otherwise recognize its contributions to aviation in Oregon. McKinnon Airpark would have made a neat little fly-in museum for that.

I didn't realize untl just now that McKinnon Airpark & the McKinnon conversions had anything to do with each other. Maybe some memoribilia could be gathered up & donated to a museum- the one at Hood River might be more appropriate than the one at McMinnville.

Re: McKinnon Airpark - Sandy, OR - OG29

I was told the hangar that they did the conversion work in is there and the guy who owned the airport( now passed away) had a lot of photos on the walls documenting the Widgeon and Goose conversion work.
Rudderbash may know more about this.
I had the okay to go in there, but never did. My bad.

Very unfortunate. I enjoyed that place on more than one occasion.

Bummer. The wife and I went there in 08. It was fun and a great airstrip.

Re: McKinnon Airpark - Sandy, OR - OG29

Awesome property!
Sure a shame that that great hangar is being used for a "food processing business" instead of aviation.
Maybe whoever buys it will remedy that.
