Fun!! I always hated watching those forward bungee cables thrash around on 185s.... I know of one or two that flopped around enough to get into the prop.....elevated my angst level considerably...

They did.....springs. First season I had bungees, next season went to springs, never looked back.

I was today old when I learned about springs vs bungees. Emailing Atlee Dodge now...

Springs are also nicer for when its very cold. Bungees will lose some of their elasticity if stretched out during very cold periods. Springs won't. When selling skis to customers up here in the great white north, we usually opt for springs where we can.

Exactly, I've had bungees lose their elasticity at very cold temps. I've also had the gear bungees in a Super Cub go slack on me in the cold.....not fun. If it gets cold enough for those springs to lose their elasticity, I'm pretty sure that will be the least of my concerns.... :roll:
