Last summer my wife, little boy, and I were over at Thomas Creek waiting out the heat of the day when we meet the volunteer trail worker that lives across the foot bridge on the east end of the strip. He was kind enough to invite us in to fill our water bladders and to give our little boy a popsicle. I wish I could remember his name, but very nice guy. Anyway, one of the books that he had there and recommended that we read is "The Middle Fork - A Guide". I just recently finished it and thought that it was a great read, so I thought I'd pass it along.
Also, two years ago Zane or someone brought copies of a history of the strips in the Frank Church area. Does someone have that in a pdf format who could email it to me? For those of you wanting a great read of the area and the history, I'd recommend it as well.
It is amazing what those pioneers, in both aviation and otherwise, endured to be in the area that we all are so fond of. Reading both of these put the area in a different light as well as made places I know become more "alive".
If you read them, I hope you enjoy.
