Mineral Bottom UT pirep needed

If anybody goes out there this weekend, let me know how it is. A group of us are headed that way next weekend (11/6-11/8). My concern is any moisture from the storm that dumped on Colorado.

Sure hope someone gives a PIREP. I think we will have 3 planes out of 00V headed that way next weekend. I did a couple hours of mountain flying today and damn there's a bunch of snow. Even at Mountain Matt's stip. Hope he has skis.

As nice as it is this wekend, I can't imagine that someone doesn't go over, and get back to ya tomorrow night or Mon. I flew most of the day today, and it was great. Maybe I'll even go over there tomorrow.

I'm headed to Alamosa tomorrow with a student in our 182RG or I would go check it out myself. Anywhere to eat at Alamosa?

There is a great Mex. Rest. there. Don't know if ya know Steve or not, he lives on the field. Otherwise, probably have to call a cab, or hitch down there. But whatever ya do, it's worth the effort. Can't remeber the name of it, but the beekepper can give it to ya, or just ask when ya get there. I think it's in the old Dairy Queen bldg. on the main drag.

Don't know

Probably flip a coin in the morning. Hoping to do a trip this week to check out a Rans, so I don't want my gas bill to get away from me, but the weather is so nice, it's hard to say no. Plus I haven't been to Utah this fall, and it's time.

The weather report for Moab is severe clear this week with temps in the mid 60's. http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=88 click on Moab under the daily. Should be perfect.
As for the strip itself I wouldn't imagine that it is very wet at this point.

Wish I was headed down there.

Why...why do I have to work instead of play :x :x :x

Bill,
A couple of good places to eat, just ask one of the line guys. You will have to beg/borrow or steal a car though. While there, go in the second hangar from the north and look at Steve's 180. SWEET!!

Met Steve's brother Dave. He is doing the work on my friend's autopilot. Yes, Steve's 180 is SAAAWEEEEET! I picked up some good ideas.

Anxiously awaiting shortfielder's PIREP for Mineral Canyon.

Re: Mineral Bottom UT pirep needed

Steve's brother with the radio shop is Mark, unless there is another brother I haven't met.

Stopped at Caveman Ranch. Rod , Hunter, and Johnny were all there workin hard. Had to get out of there before they put me to work. Too nice out for that. Shame on anyone who had a plane and wasn't flying today.

I didn't here anyone on the radio flying over there today. UNF*&&%#INBELIEVEABLE.

Mineral is in exc. shape. As I was approaching,, I thought they had it X'd, mud or sumthin. As I got closer, it was a plane laying there upside down. Landed and checked to see if anyone was around. Nobody there, but a little bit of stuff layin around.

Took down the N#, picked up the stuff so no one would steal it. Was gonna bring it home, and get in touch with the owner and let them know that I had it, but decided to drop it off at Canyonlands. The guy was there that had flipped the plane. He seemed OK, but had a passenger that went to the hospital. Cops were hurrying him to get back to the scene, so didn't get to talk with him much. Too bad. Nice plane he had just restored. Felt bad for him.

Flew on up the Colorado River/Dolores River/Dolores Point past Gateway, and home.

AWESOME DAY :D :D

Oops, you are right, it was Mark doing the work on my friend's arrow. I'm bad with names.

Sucks about the flipped plane. Hope the pax are okay. Hoping the weather stays good. Have 2 skywagons and 1 RV-6 interested in going. Possible a RV-8. Think the runway is in suitable condition for a nose wheel RV?

I hope the upside down airplane doesn't interfere too badly next weekend. I am glad the pilot and pax are OK

Looks like it was a Cessna 120 N2729N, possibly out of S. California.

Wow!! I've seen that plane at Fullerton. I had my plane park at the FBO (AFI, Aviation Facilities Inc.) that owns the plane for about a month early this year. I'll stop in next time to see if the pilot and co-pilot are fine. Hope they are!

Don't know if he had ins. or not, but if he did, and liked the plane he had, he may be intested in this one.
