mogas between SLC and SE Utah

I might not make it down to the fly-in at Caveman but I plan on heading down in the next few weeks. Are there any places to get mogas down that way? My route will will take me just east of the SLC mode C veil, then near Price and on down to the canyon lands.

Re: mogas between SLC and SE Utah

I found a pretty good map that someone made that shows the airports that carry mogas.

http://www.chouby.com/apps/autogas.html

It appears that the criteria for appearing on the map is that an airport lists itself as having mogas on airnav.com. And, you're not going to like the complete absence of such airports in UT. Is anyone aware of deficiencies in this map?

It would seem that your next best bet is if someone posts about a strip where you can taxi across the street to a gas station. If you end up going west of SLC, then check out Delle, UT. There used to be some strips at 40.7625, -112.7872 next to the freeway where you could taxi up to a gas station. Does anyone know the name of the gas station or if they have ethanol in their fuel?

Whee, if you stay on the West of SLC Mode C, you can hit Delle. It is right on I-80. Then head down past Tooele, Nephi and your back over I-15. I have always hauled my Mogas so I don't know any others.

Re: mogas between SLC and SE Utah

I was hoping to find a place that was within an hour of Caveman or where ever I end up. I have 5.5 hours of fuel with a 30 min reserve and can make it all the way there but I want to have some fuel to play around while I am there.

Maybe I'll just keep my head out the window and when i see a gas station surrounded by nothingness I'll stop and fill up :D

Its probably to far out of your way, but I have ethanol free mogas at my strip 10 miles south east of grand junction.

They had it last year in June. http://www.airnav.com/airport/U96

Give them a call and then let us know. It is south of Caveman though.

Re: mogas between SLC and SE Utah

I just stumbled onto this video of landing at Delle for mogas. Delle would be great if you're flying from Wendover towards SLC, but it could be problematic coming down from the north due to a large restricted airspace.

I will be landing there next Friday. They give a big gulp with a fill up. Not sure how long they will be Ethanol free. The strip is ground up blacktop pavement. Be carefull of kids on 4-wheelers.

Re: mogas between SLC and SE Utah

If your coming from the North, you can actually go from the South tip of Promontory Point, across the Great Salt lake towards Carrington Island and that will put you right at Delle without going in anyone's airspace.

Blu, your place would work better for me than delle. It is only ~10 min further out of the way than delle would be but is within an hour of caveman.

U96 is way to far south for me...it would take me an hour to get there.
