I know this mogas thing has discussed recently, but I'm still unclear about it's availability.
The local Pacific Pride has a pump that says Ethanol free, I haven't tested it.
I have a friend that gets Eth. free delivered to his place.
Is there no completely Eth. free gas in Oregon?
Since you are specifically asking about Oregon, this is the situation.
Oregon is a mandatory E10 state, with exceptions for aviation, marine, etc. and any station that wants to pump ethanol free premium gas. THERE IS NO REQUIREMENT IN THE LAW THAT ETHANOL FREE GASOLINE BE MADE AVAILABLE. That being said, it is still available now, but the future is unclear.
It is mandatory that pumps be labeled. They will either have a label stating that the pump provides E10, or the pump provides ethanol free gasoline. There is none of this "May contain up to 10% ethanol". It is either E10 or E0. However be advised that the state Dept. of Weights and Measures has no portable test equipment to determine the blending level of the E10, so it may have more or less, who knows? They do have a ethanol/no ethanol tester, which is the water test and they do test those pumps that say E0 or ethanol free and they better be E0 or they will shut the pump down.
The only public use airport in Oregon with mogas on the airport is Lebanon State, S30 as others have pointed out. I urge you to support Larry Knox at S30. It is self serve premium so you can put it in anything you drive up to the pump, airplane, boat, car, snow mobile, jet ski, whatever.
The web site noted above supported by the Oregon State Marine Board is the best source of which stations and marinas have ethanol free gasoline, but it is not completely accurate. There is no state requirement that vendors of ethanol free gasoline inform OSMB when they sell ethanol free gasoline, and worse when they stop selling it as will happen in the future. The station owners do not know about the web site. I have personally added three sources to OSMB from here in central Oregon and talked to the station owners, and they didn't have a clue, so don't take that list as gospel. If you run across a station with a pump marked E0 or No Ethanol that isn't on the list it should be good, but if you are going to put it in your airplane, test it.
The future does not look good. There is no clear finished gasoline coming down the Olympic pipeline from Washington anymore, so all of the ethanol free gasoline comes by railroad tank car, truck tank or barge. One of the four big refineries (BP) on the pipeline no longer makes clear finished gasoline, the others will follow as all of the gasoline in Washington goes E10 as it will have to to meet the unintended consequences of the blending requirement in the federal RFS mandate in EISA 2007. Enjoy it while you can.
