Re: Mogas locations ?

I found this: http://www.navzilla.com/mogas.php

Perhaps we can all compile one in the Wiki on the new site, but I would imagine it would need updating frequently.

Here's a spreadsheet courtesy of our dear friend Greg Swingle, of various airports with auto fuel across the US. It's publicly editable if you feel like adding. Right mouse click on the row header (far left) and select Insert 1 Above, and add your data:

Not sure if you can add to Greg's spread sheet. I tried to add Hall's Crosing in Utah.

I was able to edit it (added Fields.) You might need a Google account, I'm not sure.

My addition of Lebanon, OR seems to have "stuck".

If you want to go up, pull back on the controls. If you want to go down, pull back farther.

This web page is hopelessly outdated. PDT (OR) is on the list, has no mogas, S30 is not on the list, has mogas, only public use airport in Oregon that does. The funniest listing is KBUR in CA, Burbank airport with mogas, what a laugh. There are NO public use airports in CA with mogas. I'm not even sure the anchorages listed can get ethanol free mogas anymore, there is only one terminal in CA with ethanol free mogas, Imperial, all the others only supply E5.7 or E10. The listing for Washington is wrong too. Arlington (KAWO) no longer has mogas but Pullman (KPUW) and Oak Harbor (KOKH) do.

This site claims to cull AirNav for all of the airports that list mogas: http://www.chouby.com/apps/autogas.html Be advised that this list is shrinking, we lost three airports last month. We have lost 15 airports since last July.

This web site: http://pure-gas.org/ is an ambitious attempt to spread information on where to find ethanol free mogas. It has practically no airports yet.

The biggest problem with these attempts is that they will not keep up with the service changes as ethanol spreads. Who will update these public sites to remove the stations that lose ethanol free gasoline as they must.

Re: Mogas locations ?

Here's something of interest off Petersen's website, http://www.autofuelstc.com/autofuelstc/pa/Home.html

Marathon Oil Company is marketing a 90 octane unleaded non-ethanol gasoline as a recreational fuel for boats. This fuel is perfectly suited for use with 87 octane auto fuel STC's. In some locations it is one octane point higher, 91 octane. 91 octane is suitable for use with all auto fuel STC's.

Marathon ethanol free 90 or 91 octane may be available at the following bulk product terminals:

* Ft Lauderdale-Eisenhower
* Ft Lauderdale-Spangler
* River Rouge, MI
* Detroit, MI
* Romulus, MI
* Doraville, GA
* Powder Springs, GA

Pilots living near those areas of FL, MI or GA should contact the terminals to find out where this "Recreational Fuel" is being distributed since not all Marathon stations are carrying it.

Re: Mogas locations ?

I drove through Denio Junction, NV this last week and there were a couple of roadgraders working on the runway. I stopped and was talking to one of the operators and he told me that they were going to clean up the strip. He also told me it was the widest dirt strip in Nevada and I believe him, it is a huge runway. Airnav lists it as 90 feet wide and 3430 feet long.

There is a little cafe/bar and Motel there and Airnav lists it as having Mogas. Rooms are $45 for a single and $60 for two beds. Don't have a clue if they are using ethanol out there in the middle of nowhere.

You meen you drove to Denio and didn't give the gas the shake test for us? They have the testers in the cool box. [-X

Re: Mogas locations ?

Please, don't make me go back! #-o I found a new toy when I was on my way back from Alturas. Went home and changed cars and headed back to Denio. I spent the better part of two days trying to haul my Desert Treasure out of that place. Denio has to be one of the most desolate places I have ever been. Kinda liked that until I found out I needed 4 tires, not one, and the closest tire store was 100 miles away. Plus I had one jack and no jackstands. I ended up driving up to the mountain to get some big rocks to put the trailer on so I could go back and get the other three tires. Did I mention there is something wrong with my decision making processes?

It might be a fun place for a Fly In if you like sun, wind and dirt.

Emflys and I fueled there on our way to and from Johnson Creek last week. 91 Octane was $3.90 a gallon. Not sure about ethanol. We run Rotaxs so it doesn't really matter. The strip was in great shape but it's super dusty. Make sure you give yourself some spacing if more than one of you are landing.

Re: Mogas locations ?

The clean auto fuel locations and the viability of ethanol discussions always get tangled up. It's nice to keep them separate.

Fuel quality/ethanol/additives topic split to "Ethanol allowance and fuel cleansing additives."
