Was zoning out on a commercial flight, seated with the cattle in row 38 on a Delta 757 headed from PDX to MSP, when I spotted what looked like a real nice little airstrip on the ground.

Highly recommend going there and spending some time!

anybody been to Moose Creek lately? Is the surface smooth enough for my Mooney? I'm in Libby and business and wanted to stop by on the way home and check it out before I load wife/dog/gear in the pacer for a weekend. I've had my 231 into Ryan Field and that's about the limit for rough surface.

I flew the 180 in on Saturday and the strip seemed pretty smooth on 8.50's. Grass was somewhat tall 20 ft off centerline.

Shorter uphill strip is somewhat rougher.

If you do land, I'd shut down and walk where you'll park before taxiing in the tall grass.

Thanks to Matt! He kept me from hitting a big rock in the tall grass on a strip in Colorado once! While I stubbornly wanted to keep taxiing. Cuz I thought I could see.
