Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?

Mountain Wave Cargo Nets

After ripping out my back seat and cramming my Skywagon full of camping gear several times this year (OSH, Marble, MountainMatt's, Morning Shadows) my dad and I decided it would be smart to have a good way to keep all that crap from coming forward and hitting us if we were ever in an accident. If you ever wondered how violent it can be just talk to Flynbeekeeper or his pops. Anyhow, Shortfielder showed up at Morning Shadows with an awesome cargo net system. He refered me to Mark McClellan of Mountain Wave Aviation http://www.mountainwaveaviation.com so I ordered them. Got them in the mail yesterday and installed them today. Extreemly simple to install through existing holes and rear section of seat rails. Not a permanent item so no paperwork. Can be removed in a matter of seconds if I want to put my rear seat in to fly back seat pax.

Very cool pocket organizer hangs on the bottom section with pockets which can be removed if desired.

Very nice Bill. I probably need to look into something like that for mine. I've encountered some of those bumps in and around the rock pile (the ones that make you look over at your wings hoping to see them in the same condition they were seconds prior).

I've found ebay a great source for cargo nets. Last one I scrounged was surplus from UPS or FedEx for $15.

REI and Ace Hardware take care of the hardware. I just use carabiners.

They do look nice.

Searched their website. Couldn't find mention of prices anywhere. To me, that means just one thing . . .

Yeah... If you have to ask how much, you can't afford it :(

I'll try to take Gump's route. I checked Ebay, but didn't find anything.

No the one you sent me is in the same box that UPS kicked off the ruck in the hanger. I'd suspect it's last load was a retain net for a acorn convention to keep all the Rush Limbaugh supporters out.You can come get back your box-net anytime. If you need it for "Hobby shop" I'll send it back UPS.The Cargo net I have was in the back seat retaining at AUSTIN when you and I were there. I think you sat in my bird trying out the flap hanlde . When you want the firewall mounted Battery ?

Re: Mountain Wave Cargo Nets

There are several companies out there manufacturing cargo netting systems. Prices can range from dirt cheap to over $1000. The kit I ordered was made specifically for my 1953 Skywagon and included all mounting hardware, nets, and detachable pocket organizer. My kit cost me $439. Each kit price varies depending on attachment points and hardware required. Best bet is to give Mark a call for particular aircraft kit pricing. I'm sure I could have haupauged something together for a couple hundred bucks but I have seen the Mountain Wave nets installed in several different Skywagons and I really liked them. I think they are well worth the price for the peice of mind I have now when stuffing the back of my plane. Besides, Mark is a back country pilot from McCall, ID and I believe in supporting the little guy.

I like Mark's Mt. Wave "Cockpit origizers" cargo net comes under a different set of parameters per FAA . I just found a more ecomicial way to do what I think is the same thing. How about supporting the "firewall mounted battery "little guy like me ?

You ever meet Bill in person. He can make a burito grande disapear in under 1.5 minuts. Not to mention the big gulp. =D> =D> =D>

I will be getting one of his battery set ups. Had one in the last plane. Increases usefull load. The cranking amps of little drycell on firewall is a bit less than the standard battery but by eliminating the amperage loss from rear mounted battery, you do just a bit better. I am just waiting for existion battery to get weaker. It will be part of winter upgrades. [-o< [-o<

Thanks for sharing a great-looking product. How heavy is the whole set-up?

Heck....$439.00 is not too bad (don't have to bend over all the way). Something I'll think about when I (hopefully) get my tax refund back next year. Thanks for the info.

Does Shortfielder has that same brand of cargo net in his plane, do you know?
