MSB23-10/AD

My Motor, an O470R, was one of the counter weight MSB/AD motors. We just got the cylinder off today and found the suspect clips in place and oriented correctly. The only things left to do before putting the cylinder back on, is to fabricate the C clip tab gap measuring device IAW the bulletin. Has anybody made and used one already? If so, I’d love to borrow it. If not, I’ve got the drawing at a local machine shop and will eventually have one to share. I’d also be curious to know of others who were affected and what they found.

Re: MSB23-10/AD

I had the inspection done last week. My clips were in the correct position. We had the tool made at at local machine shop. TCM has tools to loan out according the the MSB data.

I'm glad your motor is ok. Still a pain for all of us though.

Re: MSB23-10/AD

I contacted the dedicated number for MSB23-01 and am apparently in the queue for a measuring tool. No idea who all is ahead of me but, since all of my flight controls are off the aircraft, it’s not too big of a deal. Thanks for mentioning that as an option.

Anytime. There was someone on Beechtalk offering to lend the tool he made as well if TCM has a long delay.

TCM called this morning and said they were air freighting the tool today. It should be here tomorrow.

Re: MSB23-10/AD

The measuring tool arrived from TCM and all 8 clips measured that they were seated correctly. From here we just put it back together and wait for payment from TCM. I don’t have photos but if you look up MSB23-01 there is a very clear depiction of the clips and issues.

Good to hear, Chris.
I imagine there's quite a demand for those measuring tools--
kinda surprised that it seems like it didn't take too long for TCM to get it to you?

Re: MSB23-10/AD

I called TCM on the 7th. They called back on the 8th and the measuring tool arrived on the 9th. They are trying at least. I am waiting for my IA to lay his eyes on the tool and clips and then will ship the tool back to TCM with prepaid freight. On the scale of issues with gigantic potential to go bad, this one is going alright.
