MT border crossings

Anyone have any recent info on either Whetstone/Del Bonita or Ross/Sweetgrass strips? Will be crossing the border southbound in a week or two and wondering if these are viable customs stops and whether the strips are in reasonable shape. Alternative is to go on to Cut Bank. Any info appreciated.

Re: MT border crossings

I’ve landed at a Ross in the past year, but with a 185. It’s really rough, and you never know when the Richardson Ground Squirrels have begun another excavation without posting a notam! :D Getting to the guardhouse from the strip and then back to your airplane is a PIA at Ross.

I’d just go to Cutbank. Usually cordial officers there. Pavement. Fuel.

No experience at Whetstone.

Thanks for the info. I figured Cut Bank would be easier.

Re: MT border crossings

I’ve heard a couple stories of Whetstone, and the reception wasn’t great. Odd, because it’s the staff from Whetstone that will drive down and meet you at Cutbank. I think they really like an excuse to leave the border and go to town. Maybe grab a burger and a shake while they’re there?....
