MT Ultra Now Approved for Cessna 170/172/175 Models

Hi everyone, John here from Flight Resource. I am very excited to announce that we've secured FAA STC approval for the "Ultra Performance" MT Composite propeller for Lycoming-powered models of the Cessna 170, 172 and 175 aircraft. The newly-designed prop is faster, quieter, and utilizes a new paint process that virtually eliminates paint erosion. Just like all MT Props, this one is able to be operated with no restricted RPM ranges. Owners can now choose between 3 different MT Composite prop options depending on specific application desires.

The “Ultra” is a 80-inch diameter, 2-blade, scimitar-shaped composite propeller system with a Kevlar spinner weighing only 42 pounds (verses 64 pounds for the standard metal prop). The MT Prop blades are life-unlimited and user repairable. They are protected with tough nickel-cobalt leading edges that are thicker and deeper than metal edges used on other composite props.

Because of a stronger 1-piece hub design, and better impact energy absorbing materials in the blades, the MT Composite Props do not require hub replacement in the event of minor blade damage (exposed core).

According to our Technical Specialist, Larry Schlasinger, "Calibrated flight tests proved the MT Ultra was the best performing prop for both cruise and climb when tested against other manufacturers 80" 2-blade composite props. The flight tests were performed on the same day with the same plane, changing only the prop between test flights to eliminate any other potential variables. It was extremely gratifying to see that our new blade design& development proved to be the resounding success we had hoped it would be."

Flight Resource’s introductory price is $12,990 for the Ultra propeller with Kevlar spinner, STC, excluding freight with props currently in stock for immediate shipment.

The MT Ultra Prop is also a perfect design to be used with Lycoming powered Experimental Amateur-Built aircraft looking for the newest and best technology and performance.

I'm happy to answer any questions here in the forum, or you can email/call me.

Thanks!
John @ Flight Resource

Nice!

Do you have any plans to get it approved on a 170 with a Continental IO-360?

Is this only for lycoming converted A/C? Or is it a fixed pitch prop for the stock 0-145 or 0-300?

The approved STC is for Lycoming -360/-390 series engines in the plane, but we have done a few by way of field approval for aircraft with TCM engines. We hire a DER to create and submit the FAA papers. He has done about 30 for us this year and all have been approved.
