My new 1954 180

I've wanted one for a long time and after finding a new owner for my Sedan I found this beauty in Idaho and bought it.

1954 C-180 5355tt, O-470-J 255 smoh, McCauley prop with 200 hrs since new. Same owner and hangared for the last 33 years. Painted in 2006 in Ivory and Patriot Blue Pearl. Beautiful fabric interior, panel is mostly original other than having a KX-170B and a KLX135 GPS/Com, Narco Transponder, and EI UBG-16. MASA Stol Kit, PPonk Gear beef up kit. Shoulder harness, door steward, 406ELT.

I'm thrilled!

I'll be posting in my "Flying With Akaviator" thread once I get some time from work. Planning on buzzing around in Washington state for a bit and once time and weather allow it'll be off to Alaska.

Yep, real nice guy bought it so I'm glad it's going to a good home.

Beauty 180. Was your Sedan on the Alaska classifieds? I think I was trying to talk a buddy into taking a look at it.

It was. I had a lot of interest in the plane but it went to the first gentleman I showed it to.

Beautiful airplane and a keeper. Mine had the same N number but ending in delta, ser. 31964.

Re: My new 1954 180

Congratulations on your new 180, it's a beauty!
Lotsa people badmouth those J engines ("if it's a J, stay away"),
but I know several guys who've gotten great service out of theirs.
Just be careful not to hurt your face from smiling too much!

Re: My new 1954 180

Congrats on a beauty. Classic paint.

My '55 has a "J" engine and it has so far been problem free. Hotrod180 knows my airplane from the old owner Malcolm. Could be one of the airplanes he's referring to. I don't know why the "J" series gets such a bad rap.

Re: My new 1954 180

Thanks guys. I have been smiling pretty hard lately!

Always good to hear about good running motors, I’m very attentive to my engines and am confident it will serve me well.

Cool picture, but it freaked me out a bit. I don’t like the reflection with the inverted image. Bottom half caught my eye first and made my heart sink.
