He said he had only flown it a few times and he was thinking of selling it cause he didn't use it. The plane was really nose heavy so I told him to keep the baggage compartment full. We also had 18 inches of snow the week before and it has beeen melting fast because of a few warm days. I'll bet it was pretty slimy under that snow.

I called my mechanic to see if he saw that it was my old plane. He was bummed too. No one likes to see a plane go down but that one was 53 years old and looked better than new. Bill, looks like you can sell an STC for that EZ Flap again! Looks like it survived too :)

Jerry,, I showed Todd the pics today.. he is real sure the perfectly balanced prop didn't cause the crash.. [-X ..

Has anyone asked the pilot why he didn't use flaps to slow down the landing /crash speed ? #-o

Todd is probably right! I'll tell you, Todd worked on that thing for hours to get it just right. I was wondering if he knew about it.

I did talk to Lynn tonight and no, I didn't ask him about the flaps. I guess he had been flying it more than I thought because he had put 90 hrs on it since I sold it to him. I think he has his plate full with the FAA so I wasn't anything but supportive.

He was going to take that girl in his Kitfox but they decided to take everyone in the 175. I told him about this site when he bought the plane. If he would have seen all the planes flipped in the snow the last few years he might have taken the road. He told me he has landed his Kit Fox in fields hundreds of times and he didn't think he would have a problem. That's probably why he was so calm in the video. Sad!

I know, I know, it aint a Kit Fox

One of my own, and several work airplanes are no more. Always a weird feeling to look at wreckage of an airplane you spent so much time in.

Re: My Old Plane Down

I was giving a friend instruction in a Tecnam a couple of years ago. An ok little S-LSA. We where going to do his first solo when he got off his shift at the fire station at noon the next day. A couple of private pilots rented the the plane for a short cross country and elected to fly home without refueling. The plane went down in my friend's station territory and he was on the first in engine responding to the crash. Fortunately no one was killed, but he said it was surreal to respond to his training aircraft. He sent me a text picture from the site.

Re: My Old Plane Down

"Gulfstream Girl" on Facebook put an article from AOPA, and the crash on her site. The pilot was getting totally bashed and she took a lot of the real bad comments off. Some of the comments are completely stupid but some had merit. Seem like everyone is an expert with a beer and a keyboard in their hand. Sure as hell am not going to let anyone film my crash if I have one.
