Hello everyone:
Will be having the annual flyin at Negrito, NM on 10-5-12 through 10-7-12.
Hope you all can make it!!
We will be furnishing the following meals (Friday night / Saturday morning / Saturday night / Sunday morning). Will be asking $35.00 donation to cover that and the porta-potty. You are also VERY welcome to come and furnish you own food at no charge. I know a few of you objected to the fee last year. If that is the only issue come ahead and we will work it out.
Negrito is in SW New Mexico in the Gila National Forest. The strip is 7,000 feet long and at 8,100 feet. It is a beautiful spot and the flyin always produces good company. In the past we have had about 30 participants.
This year we have a couple of special things happening:
1. This will be the first year that the Arizona Pilot's Association is joining with the NM Pilot's Association. On Friday night, Mark Spencer from the RAF will be present and giving an informal discussion on the activities that RAF and APA have been conducting, including the opening of the Double Circle Strip. On Saturday, Mark and a few of the AZ members will fly to Double Circle and have a grand opening ceremony with the Double Circle strip.
2. While it is still tentative, it is looking like AOPA senior editor Dave Hirschman and his photographer will be joining us at Negrito on Friday night and then flying to join the AZ folks on Saturday. Dave will be learning more about backcountry flying and getting information on efforts that have been going on in the Southwest.
3. Clayton Stansel and his band will be doing a sing-along Saturday night.
All are sure welcome and we hope to see as many of you there as possible.
Information will be posted on the NMPilots.org website for signup after tonight. Please read the safety briefing if you plan to come and let me know if you want to come so I can
Hope to see you there!
Regards, Larry
