Nevada Missing Plane Found

This is the same plane talked about in the http://www.backcountrypilot.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=11382&start=60 thread (TFR issue). I thought it worth posting here; very sad news. I read this article last night: http://www.sfgate.com/news/article/Crews-searching-for-overdue-plane-find-wreckage-4446360.php. I can't recall where, but from the picture I'm reasonable sure I've met Cory. My condolences to the friends and families of both victims. We may never know what happened or why; another loss of which there have been too many. :( Be careful out there.

Re: Nevada Missing Plane Found

That is sad... :( :( ..

And once again the CAP put up a TFR and once again the crash was found by someone else.. [-X [-X .

Left seat was a pilot for med flights.. Those guys are usually top notch.. Be interesting to see the reason for the crash.

Crews from Lyon County Search and Rescue, the Washoe County Sheriff's Office, Douglas County Search and Rescue, and the Civil Air Patrol scoured the area for the next four days looking for signs of the plane, while temperatures in the area dipped into the 20s.

Maj. Thomas Cooper of the Nevada Wing of the Civil Air Patrol said his unit alone put more than 440 man-hours and 40 hours of flight time into the search.

Marble's mother, Kay Lynn Marble, said her son was returning from a weekend business trip to southern Nevada when he vanished.

Cory Marble is an Eagle Scout, the oldest of three boys, and works as a professional pilot with an air ambulance company

Re: Nevada Missing Plane Found

The local CAP volunteers here in Elko are good folks. I know then personally and appreciate and applaud their dedication, efforts, and spirit for wanting to help find our asses when something goes wrong. They also do great work with the local kids and are valued in the community.

The problem is the organization they belong too and the mid to upper level leadership; that makes CAP a joke and a waste of taxpayers money. It is absolutely sickening that they put up TFR's and block others from participating in searches, not because of safety concerns, but to boost their over inflated ego's and their sense of self importance.

Volunteer programs administered by the states, such as Montana's are much better programs. I believe they have higher rates of success, and I know they are lower cost, and are much more respected among pilots.

There are good wings of the CAP out there somewhere.. [-o< [-o< ..

I was a member here a few years back but quit when their "quality" check pilot scared the shit out of me with his cocky flying skills... Fletcher Anderson was killed a couple of weeks later in the CAP plane- N9928H... In the last year or so I am becoming comfortable with the current batch of local talent in the CAP. So much so I rejoined and after going to a meeting and seeing the NEW regs I might not ever return. [-X [-X [-X .

For instance. Look at the article I posted.. The CAP commander said they had 440 man hours in a 40 flight hour search. To boost their ego and tell everyone how big their dick is, they sit around in a bar and trade flying stories... And call it "search planning".. To the national admin, the more hours they claim they put into a search the bigger their dicks get... :^o :^o

Re: Nevada Missing Plane Found

Maybe we should all write our Congressman & Senators to request some tax savings. Trim the CAP budget.

I was once asked to go fly for a missing father 3 yr. old daughter. I got to the airport & got a call saying no the "big boys" got it covered. [-X

Any guesses who found the lost, only 17 miles from where the CAP "knew" where they were at? My personal experience is the local Im-bred rednecks now the area 1000 times better than "trained searchers."

byeBill

The Alaska CAP does a great job and I know members personally and they aren't out there to boost their egos. Blanket slamming of the CAP is a cheap shot and in poor taste.

Glad to see there are decent CAP chapters out there... If you read all the other threads regarding the CAP you will see "most" of us give the good CAP chapters a pat on the back.... The problem is the vast majority of them are downright scary... ..

This thread really spells out the truth...
