Does anybody know the difference between the new 0200s and old ones? All I know is that they weight less. I saw that they were on the new Cessna LSAs...

I'm not to sure about the new O-200? But for the experimental group this looked pretty cool.

Robert "Bub" Wright, aka Skylane, passed away in November of 2011. He was a beloved community member and will be missed.

On another post, someone mentioned an O-200-D that weighed in at 25 pounds less than the old O-200 (-A ?). I just checked out the Continental website (tcmlink.com), they had a pic of an O-200 LSA engine. Didn't give any details or exact model designation. But it looked like it had a trick (B&C?) small starter and Slick mags. Also looked like the fins on the cylinder barrel are quite a bit smaller diameter than the cyl head fins, that looked new.
BTW, I looked up a couple weights, the standard old Delco pull starter weighs 16#, Delco 35 amp gen weighs 19#. Some room for reduction there. Plus lighter cylinders and they might ht that magic 25 pound mark.

I can't swear to it, but I think I remember hearing that the case had been built a little lighter, too.
I'll have to check up on it, as I'm considering the idea of refurbishing engines in my garage, and the old Conti 4-bangers seem like a pretty good line of engines to work with. If it goes well, I may open up shop and do overhauls for the light-sport and experimental crowd.

Well I hope it works out. When I was at Oshkosh they said there were "issues" with it and I haven't heard anything differently yet. I believe there was a different intake...seems like it was on top instead of the bottom...but not sure.
As for rebuilding engines for light sport....that catagory is very restrictive on what can be done except by the manufacturer. But no problem at all if you do it for the experimental group.
