New 8.50s installed!

Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?

Thank you! I am very happy with her.

Sportsman STOL cuff.

Airglass fork which comes off a Piper PA 32. I had 8.50s all the way around, but in that configuration it is difficult to get the strut to compress after a full stall landing. You end up taxiing around like a taildragger.

9 or 9.5 pounds for the 8.50 smooths....(without tube)
Great tires.. had a set on for 1.5-2 years? hundreds of landings.. mostly dirt, grass, etc. but some pavement here and there... not much wear at all

Love my 8.50 smoothies!
7.0 on the nose.. Maybe next winter I’ll get the air glass fork and stick an 8.0 up front. I think I’d be a little more comfortable on the gravel with that configuration.

Here’s 31R in her natural habitat:

Looks like a "Back Country Baron" in the background?

Re: New 8.50s installed!

Anyone know how the smoothies do on snow/ice? I just bought an airglas fork for my 172 and am considering getting a set.

New 8.50s installed!

They worked great all winter on my old 172. Had them all the way around.

Re: New 8.50s installed!

For those that have them on their 182's, any insight on how much the sidewalls flex? I still have single puck brakes on a standard offset disc, this will get changed come Spring. I had a rub issue with Air Tracs I want to avoid. About 70% of our landings are on dirt so these seem like a great option over the Goodyears.

Re: New 8.50s installed!

Best chocks I’ve found are from Wal Mart’s Aviation/Automotive aisle. They are huge, plastic and dirt cheap. Work fine on ABW 26.
