New Beringer Aerotec+ braking system

Our friends and BCP advertiser Beringer have announced a new product, Aerotec+:

BERINGER AERO innovates and takes a step forward with a new patented braking technology : AEROTEC+. The culmination of decades of production, testing, and experience, AEROTEC+ now offers a fundamentally new package designed for safety and increased performance!

TWO FLOATING BRAKES PADS
Provides cooling from all sides, therefore lowering operating temperature for reduced pad wear and better caliper protection. Furthermore, the brake pad back plate has cooling fins to increase surface area and is made of a special steel alloy rated for higher temperatures. (Supports 20% more torque)

UPGRADED DISC
The brake disc has been redesigned with a special steel alloy to increase the coefficient of friction while also handling higher temperatures.

REDESIGNED CALIPER
The brake caliper has been redesigned to increase rigidity for higher piston loads and incorporates new cooling fins to help dissipate heat. (20% more torque)

4 New international patents:
- Ventilated pads = better heat dissipation
- Cooling fins on calipers = Lower temperature
- Calipers made of a special high temperature aluminum alloy
- Increased operating pressure and braking torque

+ 15 to 30% kinetic energy
+ 20% braking torque
= reduced landing distance

Re: New Beringer Aerotec+ braking system

I had them on my Lancair 360 and boy howdy were they amazing! Legit cut my stopping distance nearly in half. And even with heavy braking I would get to the hangar and there would be no metal ticking coming from the brakes like the previous brand. Great pedal feel, super easy to work with on install since I was fabricating custom lines. They're banjo fittings go together easy. The gang over there are great people. The old instagram posts/pics are still out there @dingo_360 I don't maintain the IG anymore, buyer didn't want it, so I post once in a blue moon to go follow my 170.

Thanks redacted! I was just looking for a dealer close by, unfortunately with S-N-F going on it might be a waiting game.

Re: New Beringer Aerotec+ braking system

Couldn’t find a kit for the 185, but it says the kit for a PA18 is $8300??

Looks like you need their wheels to use their brakes

I'm experimental so I'm hoping the final price will be considerably less that $8300! That would be a big no-go for me!!

Re: New Beringer Aerotec+ braking system

Bought mine with OSH discount at the show a few years ago, wheels/tires/brakes, all the fittings and reservoirs and hardware and lines, complete kit, $5k. They even anodized the wheels orange instead of red to match my plane.

Yes you need their wheels to work with the floating disc brakes. A complete wheel/brake/tire setup of their's weighed less than a single brake disc on my orignal setup. For the certified world I honeslty wouldn't spring for them, way too expensive unless it was a factory option. For my Lancair which was a Reno air racer and loooooooved runway it was a no brainer for me.
