Re: New Cessna 180 Owner

Oh no - I feel the interior madness trying to take hold. I have been having a blast flying the new plane, but something kept feeling strange - I kept looking at the interior (which is in pretty good shape) and thinking... do I really want to go down that path again?. So the other day - after doing about 20 touch and goes I was putting the plane away - and I got that feeling again, as I started looking at the interior - thinking about the upcoming extended baggage installation, I started getting memories of late nights cleaning the black goo from when I did my 182 interior. Then I did it - I made the first step back into the madness. I looked under the headliner "just to check if it would be a big job"

Sure enough - nice thick coating of black goo, even thicker then my 182. Well if I do (who am I fooling I know where this is going) This time around I can learn from my 182 interior project - and hopefully not be down for as long as I was last time. Going to try and hold out for winter....

Re: New Cessna 180 Owner

Not to be confrontational, but who suggested to you that the BAS harnesses will keep your head off the dashboard, V brace, or control wheel? I have a lot of personal experience with this, and what you stated is false. While the BAS harnesses do restrain you better than stock CEssna restraints, they do allow your upper body to "bifold" and you WILL hit your head on any and all of these things above. The helmet with the frontal guards is the only safe option for any aircraft involved in a sudden stop if your purpose is to protect your face/head. Too, the helmet would protect the back of your head when that heavy battery in the back blows out of the sub floor of the extended baggage in a sudden stop. Indeed, all things to consider during a sudden stop of a moving aircraft, not to mention cargo not secured under a cargo net attached to hardpoints in the superstructure.
