New format WTFO

I am assuming that the reason for this new format is because of time restraints. The old format was much higher quality. I am speaking form a position of little web site knowledge.

This format is only permanent, for you, Tim. For everyone else, a new and improved fully featured site will go online in a few weeks.

Don't take my questions wrong, please -- I see the forum as a gift and appreciate it well beyond the price I pay. 8*)

I didn't see any explanation of what the reason for the upgrade was. Are there features coming that we don't have in the current version? Is it in part just to step up to phpBB's latest rev, so the patches continue to apply? And the main one to me, was there a reason we couldn't stay on the old version until the new was ready to fly (as it were.) What drove you/us to this intermediate flavor? Just curious...genuinely appreciate all your effort.

Re: New format WTFO

Is it just me or is this version of the BB more snappy than before?

I am logged on via a broadband card while sitting on Amtrak and it still is crisp.

This sucks,

I know that is if free. I'd gladly "pay" to have the old site back. What is the motive? Is this a joke or what?

Re: New format WTFO

1576 members times $100 membership = $157,600.00 to date
$157,600 divided by 5 yrs in business = $31,520.00 per yr
$31,520 divided by 12 months = $2627.00 per month
$2627.00 divided by 30 days = $87.57 per day
$87.57 divided by 3 hrs per day = $27.19 per hr
Actual rate per hour would be much less because membership average over the 5 year period would be much less than 1576 membership to date.
Only a guess on actual hrs spent per day to run this business and not counting profit and overhead.
I have no idea what the profit might be for advertisement on the site (maybe cover overhead costs)?
Big Z,
I would not quit your day job.
As others have said, I also enjoy this site and appreciate the your efforts.

Re: New format WTFO

I was only joking. I do this for free and I feel good about it.

Bob, the finished product is going to blow your mind. You just have to weather this interim version for a few weeks.

Re: New format WTFO

Thanks Zane,

I had not discovered the clues to this puzzle until you provided them for us. I couldn't figure out what was going on. As for "blowing my mind" it won't take much. Heck the old site was fabulous. This stuff is all magic to me. Your site has greatly educated me on the subject of back country flying. I enjoy the comments, suggestions, guidance and experience offered here.

Thanks again.

I have said it before and I am going to say it again. Put pay pal on for donations, some of us want to help. Don't make it mandatory! The next plane ride is on me. Thanks Z

Cheers RB
