That would be awesome to not have to deal with a bulky sectional while flying! I'll wait till they come out and get some pilot report before I buy. For that cheap, I'd love to find a place on my panel for one.

I still love my Garmin 396 for now.

Very cool, I'd love to see a video of how it works and the UI.

I'll have a lot of options come next spring when it's time to buy a handheld.

Re: New GPS, iFly 700

Here's some things I've learned from other sites and emails about future plans for the unit...

The guy is working on the rotation engine to allow it to be track up, right now it's North up only.

The product is built to allow an eventual upgrade to allow use of XM weather. He's working on that as well.

He intends to later incorporate functions to allow the unit to show your position on the approach plates, as well as add in the en-route charts.

Possible external battery pack since it doesn't have an internal one to power itself, requires DC or AC input, comes with both chargers.

If he get's all of the above worked out, added to the unit, and it has great reviews, I'll buy one!

A friend just bought one of these and is on the bottom of the curve. I just found this and it looks pretty good. http://ifly.adventurepilot.com/TOUR.aspx

What does the 496 have that this does not have?
