New HD Video option

As some of you know I have been selling Data Toys video systems for a while and finally they have gotten the HD kit out and in use, the Kit retails for $499.00 and has a bunch of great features. The only Rub is the 6' cable for video qualty....

AV-HD Aircraft Camera System

The AV-HD is a high definition aircraft camera system; records video in full 1080P HD, is compact, and loaded with features. The AV-HD was designed to be a high quality, rugged, and yet easy to use. Everything you need is included for a quick and easy way to capture your flight in Full HD. Don't worry about the weather, because the camera, cable, and recorder are all water resistant, rugged and built for harsh environments!
High Definition (1080p, 720p, and WVGA) - The AV-HD offers high definition video with three resolution settings.

Propeller Filtering - The AV-HD features advanced technology to reduce and eliminate the zebra and warped prop effect of most HD camera systems. Included is four prop filters that adapt to the most extreme lighting conditions along with interpolation software that result in the best prop filtering on the market. Users can "tune" the filter to their lighting condition and prop speed using the onboard LCD and the buttons on the AV-HD control unit.

Headset Audio Recording - When used with the optional headset adapter cable; The AV-HD can record all headset audio, including everything you say and ATC transmission. Optionally users can use the built-in microphone, or external mic included in the system.

Two Fields of View (170 & 120 degrees) - The AV-HD records a 120 degree wide angle view in 1080p reduce fisheye effect, preventing the edges of the video to fold over. When in 720p the AV-HD records a full 170 degree view, great for cockpit shots!

Stills on Demand - The AV-HD can take 8 megapixel still pictures with a touch of a button. On demand still's provide stunning images in four times the resolution of full HD video.

Built-In LCD - The AV-HD features a 2" for setup, playback, and live viewing, so you can know; When your recording, What your recording, and How long you can record for.

Mounting of the camera is a snap using the built in 2.0" LCD and one of the many camera mounts included in the system. A cigarette power plug adapter allows for 12V to 24V DC input from the aircraft, or use one of the two rechargeable Li-Ion batteries included with the AV-HD. Videos can be easily downloaded using the USB cable or straight from the SD card. Video files can be viewed on a PC or a Mac with not special software needed, and can be easily uploaded to YouTube.

For more information about the AV-HD.

Re: New HD Video option

It's got a lot of great features, but the 6 foot cable won't work for my Maule. I'd like to mount the camera high up on the wing strut away from the propeller and secure the cable to the strut with tie wraps so it doesn't flap around. It sounds like you can't use one of Datatoys extension cables due to the signal quality loss. That would solve the problem. Maybe they'll fix that in an upcoming enhancement.

How do you deal with securing the cable and running it into the cockpit on your Maule?

Re: New HD Video option

Well at current time I have the older style with about 30' of cord all over the plane, with that one you could tie it to the strut and use the remote to start /stop and be able to see the LCD screen a foot or so out the window... that is my thought so far, I will give it a try and let you know ..

Re: New HD Video option

I always like seeing new POV cam options for flying. Looks like a great product. Any feedback on how it handles vibration?

I'm looking forward to putting it in the Cub.

It is just what I have been looking for.
