We do indeed! I also lived in the Reno area. Do you ever get to this area (Boise) to do some flying? M

Maniac,

Welcome to the forum. The Maule team here is really ramping up. Let's see, we have jmtgt, speedbump, strata, N6EA, yellowbelly, yellowmaule, UP_M5, and now you. Hmm, it's a close match though. Over here in the Cessna camp, we've got Jr. CubBuilder, zero.one.victor, punkin170b, Bob White, myself, and probably many others I can't think of off the top of my head. And then there's Stol, aka "Haaspower" in his Zenair CH801, who, like Chuck Norris, beats the air into submission with 300+ horsepower. Wait, that's a saying for helicopters.:P And we cannot forget Jon B. with his Kick-Ass Champ... I wouldn't mind having a Champ or one of its descendents myself, we need to get some more Champion pilots on here.

Ahh, it makes a site admin proud! Thanks for introducing yourself and we look forward to some flying tales.

Zane

I have a hangar at Nampa airport and I leave the bird for a few months in Idaho City in the summer. The forest service still owns the airport and is usable until the fire season starts. There are no hangars there.
Property can be had but it is going fast and the prices are going up ( I know first hand my wife is a realestate agent in the area!)
I hunt and fish the middlefork also. I do a little guiding in the fall for Elk. I got a 6x7 bull this year and will be feasting on meat for the next year! Flying and Elk hunting then catch a trout or two! Is there anything better?

Hey Zane thanks for the welcome. I am doing the final draft on my 1st flying ( true) story and will be submitting it shortly!

Don't forget that weird Minnesota guy with the Champ...

It's a Kick-Ass (c) Champ, by the way.

Welcome, maniac!

A thousand thanks!

Yes, it is nice here. Although, today, it's cold, windy and snowing. Tomorrow, it will probably be just cold. Or cold and windy. Or cold and snowing.

I hope to have the skis on the K-A Champ in a week or so. *Then* it will be nice here. As long as the lakes are all frozen over, we may as well make them useful.

Sorry. I don't have a clever sig yet.

I flew to EKO Ifr yesterday morning. Broke out about 7200 on the FMG 6 departure. Coming back VFR on top, my CO detector went off. The hanger at RNO is no place to work on an airplane (no electricity, colder inside than out) so I'll be headed out to N86 this weekend to de-cowl and inspect. Can't imagine what I'll find cuz the exhaust sytem is a relatively new Knisley which eliminates all but two joints. We'll see. If in the area stop by and say howdy.

I was IMC for only 12-1500 feet which is less than a minute. Otto was flying and I was looking for ice. Not even a cold looking leading edge. Flight service made no mention of ice but had a PIREP of tops at 7500. With the inversion it is warmer above to a point but EKO's high temp was -2c. The Ruby's were spectacular but as usual I left the camera in the car. You goin to Death Valley on the 28th?

Thinking about it. Mexico went way over budget (the hotel in Alamos was 350 a night) and I might have an expensive exhaust leak to fix. We're going to Maui in Jan and I'm sure that will cost more than I planned. Oh, yeah, almost forgot, Christmas! It never ends.....

I was just checking out my avionics catalogs, wow those autopilots are kinda spendy. I think the kind they used in that movie "Airplane" can be had a lot cheaper..................

A few buddies and I stoped into Idaho City this summer. We had 3 Super Cubs and a Pacer. There was a Maule there, was that you? We were just there for a few hours and as I recall the Maule was gone when we left. We stopped by to visit another buddy that bought a place there. Welcome.
