For sure I wont be sticking this up my ass... but I did snake it as far down my throat as I could before I about puked all over the hanger floor. Was interesting to say the least.

Well... You know, I had sooooo many immediate responses to this, but I think it'll stand just fine on its own.

Those borescopes are sure handy to have around.

Depending on what you're using them for, you may be able to get away with a lower cost endoscope that can hook up to your cell phone or computer. Mechanics in our hangar have used them to help fish out screws and washers that have been dropped in very small places.

I was able to find a rouge ballpoint pen in the tail of a Pitts on a pre-flight. I would have been standing on my head otherwise.

They come in various lengths, but 5 meters can basically give you a video image down the span of a wing. You do need something rigid to go fishing with though.

Comes with a magnet, hook and a mirror.

You get what you pay for an there are other options, but for the price it's kind of handy to have in the toolbox.

Here's an example on Amazon:

Also something to think about: I know lots of mechanics roll their eyes and don't care, but per SB03-03 a 100hr or annual can not be done w/out a bore scope.

The mirror is needed to look at the valves.

Big Renna-

I think a borescope is an absolute requirement for maintenance. IT does take some getting used to understanding what you are seeing... and the orientation of the lens.

BTW, when are we going to see that flight report on your latest mods redone (VG's etc).

Thanks,
gunny
