night time spraying operations

I ran across this spraying clip on one of the Ag forums and thought some might enjoy it. I did not realize any night spraying was done. To be that good and have that much nerve is something to be admired.

Although that was in Aussieland and they do a lot at night we do it too. If you were interested it is most common in the summer in central California, Arizona, and the Imperial Valley of California. Ther is also limited night work in the Boise area due to the presence of leaf-cutter bees.
Hadn't seen that one yet, makes me want to go to work!

Night spraying is very common in the central valley of CA. When I first moved to Lemoore I was driving into base at night on one of those straight farm roads. I saw what I thought was a big truck on a cross road coming very fast. I knew there were no stop signs on my road and again thought to myself, this truck is way too fast, he is not going to stop. Anyway I slowed and the headlights pulled up right as they crossed my road. I almost got vertigo in my car seeing these headlight go up into the air. It was only then that I realized it was a night cropduster.
Since then I have met a few of the guys, they are crazy. Under powerlines at night is not uncommon.

My Dad cut his teeth in an 300 hp ag truck and he sprayed quite a bit in the late 80s, these trucks had drop down lights for working(sprayin) in the fields and turning lights in in the tips for ground reference . The only thing he says is atnight you can't see the god damn poles but the wire shines. Day time, other way around. Doesn't do the night thing anymore Ag-cats don't go under the small lines very well.

worked my way through highschool and college working for spray firms in the treasure valley, all at night. It can be very exciting when there are lines on all sides of the target field.
