Nikasil Cylinders?

Anyone tried getting their cylinder bores Nikasil coated? I've had my snowmobile cylinders done a few times but I don't know if it could be done on a cylinder with a permanently attached head. Seems like it could be a good way of renewing a cylinder that failed because of bore issues and it would prevent rust from sitting.

Re: Nikasil Cylinders?

I got a friend with some o470 cylinders that got a little pitting in the bores and they would be prefect to see if this would work. Hopefully the place in the US that does this will get back to me tomorrow.

US Chrome will plate closed bore cylinders but the 5" bore of a O470 is too big. Sounded like 4 maybe 4.5" would be as big as they would consider doing.

I believe there is a cylinder shop that can do it.... Will have to look it up next week...
