No turning back now...

I just sold my F-250 to pay down my airplane loan.

If there was ever hope to turn back, it's gone now. I'll miss that truck, but I don't regret the decision. Now I'm that guy that drives an old truck and has an airplane...

Well at least your airplane is badass!!! Besides, trucks are just another tool in the toolbox. Except they lose value quicker than most tools!

Kinda reminds me of that joke where the wife says to the guy, it's me or the plane. Later the pilot comments to a friend, I sure do miss that woman , she was a good cook. Some trucks are easier to part with than others.

Let's see now.... I drive a 1994 Chevy Suburban, got over 300k on it. A 1996 Ford Ranger with 130k on it. They both get me to the airport where my C170b and Luscombe 8A live. Makes me smile to think about it!!!! You want regret what you've done. :)

97 Ford f250, Three old Dodge Caravans, paid for and driveable. Cessna 180 and Avid flyer, paid for and flyable. 34 acre private airport, big debt but worth every penny. Drive junk, FLY FLY FLY.

Ha Ha!

Like I told an ex who was pissed when I sold C-180 #1 and used the money to buy C-180 #2 and not a fancier house....

"You can always sleep in an airplane, but you can't fly a f****ng house!"

And I was right. Six months later I was living out of the back of that airplane in Barrow.

Priorities!

I sold my plane to buy a house. I think I could have wooed Gump's ex-wife pretty well.

Re: No turning back now...

Hahaha, I sold the truck to buy my plane outright, the only driver I own now is a motorcycle. Flying is way better, so far I've been able to borrow a truck when I need one. Most friends wouldn't loan me their plane to haul stuff around...Don't look back [emoji12]

Re: No turning back now...

Hahahaha! Great stories!

It was a beautiful 2008 F-250 FX4. Paid off and wonderful. She will be missed.

My remaining ride is an 85 4Runner with 265k on the clock. LOTS of life left in that truck!

My wife was also a little sad to see the truck go, but happy to see the red numbers get a bit smaller.

Goal #1, pay off the plane. Goal #2, pay off the house. Goal #3, be Phil's neighbor part of the year.

All while flying as much as I can in the meantime!

In the same boat here....
Getting ready to sell a really nice Z06 Corvette to finance an O-360 upgrade to my stock 170.
I already know which I will get more enjoyment out of....
Cant land a corvette on the beach or a mountain strip!

Drifter's got it figured out.:-) But no need to break in, I can set you up with an alarm code (and take it away if you don't do the dishes) and arm/disarm from anywhere with my iPhone. How cool is that.

Speaking of trucks, that's one thing I've got to get next year to leave in the garage so you guys have transportation when I'm not around. And need to get a four wheeler and a trail lawn mower so you guys can keep the runway mowed.

Awesome Cam. I'm looking to buy an old truck so I don't leave my wife and baby stranded in the odd case that I leave by myself and not with my 180. But it's do I want new radios and bushwheels, or a truck? Decisions decisions...

I'd love that truck 182, but by the time I drove it to Canada I'd have paid more in gas then for the truck.

And GA News isn't gonna publish any pics of your Vette -- FWIW they DID put some of Fishdoc's backcountry pics in today's e-newsletter. Nice looking 170! And it'll look even nicer with the 360 & a constant speed on the nose.
