NorCal Airplane Camping?

Hello All,

The wife and I are headed up to Northern California with the 182 at the end of June. We're looking for airstrips that might have good camping on or near the field. I'm talking about the area north of Sacramento/Lake Tahoe up to the Oregon border. We've camped at Georgetown and loved it. Now we're looking to venture a litte further NE (Northern Sierras) or NW (Tinity Alps, etc.). Any attractions in the area not to miss? We will have folding bikes to travel locally and my also rent a car.

Thanks,

C.

Re: NorCal Airplane Camping?

Gravelly Valley is pretty nice. It is on the Salmon River and Pillsbury Lake. Rwy is in pretty good condition and there is a forest svc campground on the lake end of the rwy. It is on the charts. Be sure to give it a look, as 4 wheelers sometimes are on the rwy.

It isn't real primitive, but it's not bad. I take an inflatable with me and have caught trout in the lake.
